USDA Multistate Hatch W5188 Annual Business Meeting 2027

Dear W5188 Colleagues,

Registration is now open for the 2027 USDA Multistate Hatch W5188 Annual Meeting, which will take place on January 7-8, 2027, at the University of California, Davis.

The W5188 multistate project brings together researchers working in soil physics and related disciplines to advance our understand of soil processes, particularly the movement of water, energy, and gases through the soil. The annual meeting provide an opportunity to share reserach findings, strenghten existing collaborations, welcome new colleagues and students, and to discuss future dirctions for the project.

Breakfast and lunch on Thursday and on Friday
Dinner on Thursday, held in conjunction with the poster session
Coffee, beverages, and snacks during scheduled breaks

Optional Field Trip

We are offering an optional half-day field trip totwo research sites in the Davis area:

Vadose Zone Monitoring System near Esparto, CA: Visit a field installation of the Vadose Zone Monitoring System (VMS) developed by Dr. Ofer Dahan, at a research site led by Dr. Isaya Kisekka. The visit will highlight approaches for monitoring water movement and solute transport through the vadose zone.
Agrivoltaics Research Site at UC Davis: Visit the agrivoltaics research site on the west side of campus, led by Dr. Majdi Abou Najm, to learn about ongoing research integrating solar energy production with agricultural systems.
